"Mama, why do you frown all the time?"

But she did want a smile. "Please, God; you know how much I worry. How much I put life on hold. You are stronger than my weakness. You can do anything. Please make me ‘the smiling person.' Wherever I go, let people remember me as the lady who smiles all the time. Today I give my face to You. Make it over."

One day: Ding dong! "I represent Avon. You've been chosen to sell it in your neighborhood."

Ginger got involved. Slowly she went from "God, get me out of here!" to "Send me out there." Her talents began to unfold. Things began to happen. Lives were saved. Suicides prevented. Witnessing opportunities multiplied.

For years she prayed for her sons’ future wives. Finally they showed up—one of them in driver’s ed class, the other via the internet. Now they’re not only her daughters-in-law, they’re her close friends.

She has told her story of how God found her in most of the 50 states. Now she’s telling you: take chances on God. He can be trusted to take you to the heights. Don't go through life feeling like junk, unfulfilled, when you could be enjoying the zest of blessing others. If you're not growing, you're shrinking. Used talents multiply—along with your joy. God has a plan to grow your life. He is a God of miracles. Give your life completely to Him and expect the unexpected.

Ginger Church, erstwhile Avon lady, is editor of Kid's Ministry Ideas and contract publicist for Women of Spirit magazine. She spent more than a dozen years in book and magazine sales with the Review and Herald Publishing Association. She speaks at women's, children's, and other training events.
